History
CPL Brokers opened its doors in Annapolis, MD during the spring of 1995, while Dan Hudson was still operating as a reserve officer in the US Navy. Since then, the firm has become one of the largest independent brokers for CPAs in the Mid-Atlantic; currently representing over 300 CPA and 125 other professional firms. Our services have now expanded coast to coast, with the firm’s scope broadening as well. Keeping a pulse on the rapidly changing technological and cyber security landscape, we have become thought leaders in the cyber law, insurance and compliance sectors, bringing heavyweight advocacy to our clients.

FOUNDER & PRESIDENT
Daniel Hudson
Dan has been serving professional firms since 1989, incorporating CPL Brokers, Inc. in 1995. He is a 1981 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, and holds an MBA from the University of North Florida. Dan served in the United States Navy as a Naval Flight Officer. He served on both active and reserve duty for 30 years, retiring in 2006 as a Captain. For most of his service, he flew on board the P-3C Orion, conducting anti-submarine operations, littoral warfare, counter-narcotics, and surveillance missions worldwide. Dan served as Commanding Officer of Patrol Squadron Six Four (VP-64) where his squadron earned the Battle "E" and numerous readiness awards and citations. He invites you to look forward to the new P-8 Poseidon, which has been replacing the P-3 since 2013.

VICE PRESIDENT
Joseph Brunsman
Joseph joins CPL Brokers, Inc. after serving as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy, working as an Anti-Terrorism / Force Protection Officer responsible for a billion dollars of equipment and 280+ military personnel. Prior to that he served tours as a Combat Information Center Officer and an Electronic Warfare Officer. During his enlisted time he was an Information Systems Technician dealing with Unix database management and network security.
Joseph is a 2003 graduate of New Mexico Military Institute and a 2010 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD where he obtained a degree in Systems Engineering with a focus on robotics system interoperability. He is the resident expert in cyber law, insurance and compliance—writing 2 consecutive books on the subject. He enjoys Jiu Jitsu, powerlifting, business theory, and biohacking.
